Cycle of Life

April 21st, 2007   Filed under: Everyday life

It’s been a few days, and I’m beginning to be able to breathe a bit again. The shock of everything that happened affected me more than I had realized at first, and quite honestly, I’ve been exhausted. Today things seem to be regaining some normalcy (whatever that is), although I still feel a sense of profound loss. And confusion for I still don’t know what actually happened. What I’ve learned is that I have wonderfully supportive people around me. I can hang on to that little glimmer of hope I’m feeling because of them.

It rained last night almost as though the weather knew I was grieving. Rain is not an overly common event here. It was still gloomy and dark this morning, but before long the sun broke through. It’s been a pretty day. Not too hot, not too windy, just lovely and refreshing. All the plants and trees in the yard have been reborn for another year in the never-ending cycle of life. Lucy, of course, has an ear infection because of her doggy-allergies. I started her on the antibiotic though and she’ll be good as new soon.

I’m getting new neighbors. I’m both excited and nervous about it. It will be nice for the house to not be empty anymore, but there will be an adjustment period for everyone. As I told the current owner, the dogs will get used to the new people, but it might be loud few days.

And so life really does go on…
