Almost Normal Sunday

April 22nd, 2007   Filed under: Everyday life

I had intended to do my normal Sunday routine today: laundry, cleaning and yardwork. It ended up a bit convoluted because of the activity next door. This morning, the previous owners finished up cleaning out the shed. The dogs went crazy and so I ended up with them inside most of the morning. No real cleaning happens when they’re helping believe me.

Early this afternoon I was finally able to start. I had decided to clean out and organize the office/sewing room after watching Mission: Organization on HGTV. It included hauling out a broken recliner, a sewing machine in not so great shape, and then moving in a desk for my sewing machine. By the time I was finished in there, I almost gave up on the rest of the cleaning.

About that time, the new neighbors came by to look through the house. They have two kids, 10 and 11, and I introduced them to the boys, who of course loved them. They have two dogs of their own. Their parents were a little too happy to learn that I’m assistant principal at the school they’ll be attending, but I’m reserving judgement on that whole thing. I also found out they won’t be closing until May 10 which means they won’t be moving in before then. Mom said they would finish the school year at their current school (also a relief to me for some reason).

I did finally manage to get my cleaning and laundry done, although not much yardwork other than cleaning it up a bit. And now, I’m getting reading to have some Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream. It’s a new flavor for me, but it certainly sounds good, doesn’t it?
