Limping Lucy
Lucy came inside after her morning playtime limping. Her right front leg/paw is the problem one. Nothing is swollen and she lets me touch it without any sign of distress so I’m crossing my fingers and hoping she stepped on it wrong. They boys have done the same thing in the past and after a few days they’re fine. I went out and walked with her this afternoon and other than stepping a bit gingerly on that leg/paw, she really did seem okay. If only she could tell me what she did.
She and the boys are due for their annual vaccinations. I don’t think I can fully express how much I’m NOT looking forward to three trips to the vet. Especially with Luke who is more distressed than the other two both by riding in the car and going to the vet. My only decision is if I do all three in one morning, or if I spread them out over three days. I need to go get a muzzle for Luke before he goes as well. I’d rather he have his own than have to use the one at the vet’s. Of course, maybe he won’t need one at all this visit…but I don’t think I can take that risk either. It’s funny though how two of the three can be perfectly fine with it, proving again I guess that each really does have his or her own personality and preferences.

3 trips to the vet! no way! stress! :-O

Have you ever considered using a mobile vet? Since you have three dogs, it may be very feasible and not overpriced to have him come to your home, examine the doggies and give them their vaccinations. My brother has a large breed dog that is difficult to get to the vet, so he uses a mobile veterinary service. I found this one who covers your area:

Just a thought.

I know exactly how you feel. I have 2 cats, one who is scared of her own shadow, and a kitten. Both of them are due for their annual shots, as well as a rabies shot before we put them in a cattery for the duration of our vacation.
I cannot tell you how I’m dreading the vet visit. My eldest cat will not go outside at ALL, and she hates strangers. I fear the vet may very well end up with scratches all up his arms.

A mobile vet takes care of our scared animals now. We had our fill of taking them to the vet’s office. It’s so much easier at home.
Years ago, our ‘fraidy cat came home with a swollen paw that looked like a paddle. We dragged him to the vet & he wanted to do some surgery on it (anesthesia & lancing, etc). We opted for the oral antibiotic treatment & by the next day, his paw was almost normal. Sometimes less is more.
