Reassurances and Reminders

February 29th, 2008   Filed under: Everyday life

I received some strong reassurances today at work that I will be offered a contract next year. It’s nice to be able to breathe a sigh of relief about that. The offers of support and encouragement that came my way today were very appreciated and I am grateful for them and the people that offered them.

But I may have to remind people that I am still able to do some things, and not only that, that I need to do some of those “normal” things right now. The time may come when I won’t be able to do them, and I’ll ask for help when that time comes. It may not make sense, but for now, I need some of those routine everyday chores and tasks to help me feel as though I can go on.

Tonight John, Sarah and I went out for burgers to one of the local Mexican restaurants in town. Sarah actually had a crab/shrimp quesadilla and it looked very tasty. The burger was really very good, probably the best I’ve had in a while. I hope the weather stays great for the weekend. Maybe one of these still coolish evenings we’ll get the firepit burning and enjoy an evening outside.

it’s nice to hear that you are more assured of your job.

being a working musician, i can be in 15 different bands throughout the year, 7 steady bands… but, there is no assurance about having steady gigs at any venue. they come and go. so, i work from gig to gig. but i’m happy being a working musician.
