Life Is Too Short and Too Precious to Do Otherwise

March 24th, 2008   Filed under: Everyday life, Friends, Heartache

I haven’t been sleeping well which has given me lots of time to think…

I’ve made some wonderful friends online. Every day I’m thankful for them and the different ways they brighten my life, even though we haven’t met in person. Sometimes I find it hard to remember what I did with all my time before the Internet came along, perhaps because I’ve been blogging for the past nine years. I’m doubly blessed because I have some great friends offline as well.

Having said all that, there are times when I am frustrated, because actions really do speak louder than words. Right now my feelings are a bit raw by actions from people claiming to be such great friends full of love and all that. There actions do not send the same message, which leaves me confused and hurt. I think I’m at a point in my life where I believe I deserve to be treated better than that, and I also think I’m at a place where I need to wean out the people whose actions and words are rarely sending the same message.

Life is too short and too precious to do otherwise.

I find that we are increasingly isolated in today’s society. Real friends are hard to come by. I, too, have found comfort with the people I’ve met online, yet I long for the ‘real thing.’ It is important, though, that our longing doesn’t lead us to hang on to relationships which hurt and disappoint us. I agree with you… life IS too short and precious!

You are SO right. Life is too damned short. I wish that we lived closer, because I certainly would not treat you badly…

    ((hugs))

That’s something that I have a hard time understanding as well. Friends should always treat each other with kindness…why else would you be a friend? I’m of the school that if you can’t say something nice you just keep your mouth shut!

I’m not sure what’s going on, but I know the feeling myself.
Lately, I just haven’t had the time nor the want, to reach out to anyone, not just friends.
I know it means for me, I’m slipping back into my self imposed isolation, but I’m working on it.

But as for friends online, hrm, I’ve made some good, some great, some true, and some fake.
Eventually their real identity is shown to me.
I’ve been lucky with the good and true friends, but the fakes have left me in tears lately.

If you ever need to just vent, I’m always home, and usually always on my computer for lack of better and able things to do.
But I’m around if you need someone to vent to.
    Take care of you. :)

It is hard to realize that some folks are just not the kind of friends you thought they were. You are right, you *do* deserve better. Sometimes I think my cats may ultimately be some of the best friends I have! I know, someday I’ll be “that crazy cat lady…” You have to admit, your furry friends are always by your side and on your side!
