Someone Knocked on my BACK door at 1:52 a.m.
There are times when there’s a great deal of activity (usually illegal) that occurs in the alley behind my house. It usually involves kids making stupid choices, although I know of at least once that the police chased (on foot) someone down the alley. The alley does not go all the way through so it’s easy to tell people who don’t normally use it because they get just past my back yard and realize they’re going to have to back out of the alley the way they came in. I have very little problems because 300 pounds of barking, growling dogs are a great deterrant for most people.
So imagine my surpirse (and irritation) when someone knocked on my BACK door at 1:52 a.m. this morning.
He’d jumped my fence (the back gate is padlocked) to come to the back door to ask me to borrow a shovel because he’d gotten his van stuckin the alley. I told him no. When he became a bit unpleasant, which was surprising because the dogs were already trying to get him through the security door, I told him I was letting the dogs out in 30 seconds.
I’m happy to report that he made a good choice and left my yard. I let the dogs stand at the back fence and perform for him for a little while and then we all went back to bed (after each dog had a little snack of course).

I’m glad that the dogs are there to protect you. You should hang a few ‘beware of dog’ signs on your back fence and maybe that will make someone think first before hopping your fence.
Have a good weekend, Sue!
I LOVE big dogs, Unfortunately, our family isn’t home enough to add a dog to our brood - it wouldn’t ne fair to the poor thing. But one day, I want an Irish Wolfhound. I have also found Chows, Rottys and Pits to be great companions - if you have the time to love & care for them properly.

Good thing for big dogs!
Yay for the dogs!!!
You are more brave than I am. I would have called 911 and had someone come out and check out things. Big dogs are nice to have around for such things tho.
