Planning to Paint

October 4th, 2008   Filed under: Life in Arizona, Weather, plans

The high today was 81F. Granted, it was cloudy and even sprinkled a bit, but still 81F for the high means that fall really is making an appearance. The AC didn’t come on once today!

It’s also six days (five work ones) until fall break officially begins. I’m hoping to feel up to painting over the break. I’ve already picked the colors. The main color will be subtle squash (light goldish) with an accent wall of pumpkin squash. I plan to paint the living room, dining room, and hallway using them with colors named sweet cinnamon for the trim, and ground nutmeg for the doors. In the kitchen I’m planning to use a color called overjoy. It’s a light yellow, not too different from what’s in there now. I’m guessing it will take 2 days to get it finished.

Sleeping on the Table

09-29-08_2019.jpeg by you.Doesn’t Cotton look so innocent when he’s sleeping (or pretending to)? He really is the mildest tempered of my three, which didn’t help him much when I found him on top of the table earlier. I tolerate his table sleeping outside because the table he sleeps on is concrete and it may be the only way he can nap most of the time without Luke bothering him, but no way in the house. I noticed last night that both he and Luke are almost as tall as the top of the countertop in the kitchen as well.

I’m glad it’s Friday! It’s been a long week, no doubt because we’re counting down to fall break. Fall break starts next weekend. I’m hoping to feel well enough to do some painting.

And, it’s 72F this morning! Perfect coffee on-the-patio-watching-the-sun-rise weather.

Making Progress

Luke’s been doing rather well since all this happened. His limp is barely noticeable, and he doesn’t seem to have any difficulty getting around, wrestling, or doing any other normal dog activities. He and Cotton are back to rough-housing when outside, and although it makes me nervous, it seems to invigorate both of them. He even made an attempt to race Cotton while playing fetch, and while he was no match for Cotton’s speed and dexterity, I was still pleased to see him try.

I see the cardiologist tomorrow afternoon. I’ll be glad to get it over at this point.

Even though it rained last night (complete with thunder, lightning, and lots of wind), it really hasn’t cooled off much as of yet. I’m really hoping the weather people are right and that the highs by the end of the week really will be in the low 90sF instead of the 100sF we’ve been having.

Leaky Valve

September 22nd, 2008   Filed under: Pics, Weather, health

The echocardiogram showed a leaky valve. I’m not really supposed to know that until Wednesday, but when I panicked about the flashing on the screen and the tech stopping the picture and zooming in numerous times (from various sides), she told me what it was. Lots of people live with leaky valves. Surgery could also be an option at some point. There’s even a chance that taking care of the hypokalemia might lessen the leak. Finding out what’s causing the hypokalemia seems to be a puzzle at this point. Unfortunately, it leaves me incredibly tired most of the time. Things that I thought nothing about doing previously (walking 45 minutes for example) require a period of rest afterwards these days. I see the doctor again Wednesday, and the cardiologist next Monday.

The good news is it seems to be cooling off a bit finally! It was only 96F when I came home this afternoon. The morning temps are in the low to middle 70sF, which is a sure sign that fall is arriving.

This and That

August 24th, 2008   Filed under: Everyday life, Life in Arizona, Pets, School, Weather, health, hmmm

I’m officially tired of the hot weather. 106F air temp, with a feel-like temp of 108F is too hot for the end of August. It just makes me feel tired overall now.

Luke is doing better. He still limps some on the leg with the most nerve-damage, but otherwise seems back to his normal self. It’s not bothering him enough to keep him from chasing after the puppies next door, nor does it keep him from wrestling with Lucy and Cotton.

Since I received notification of my rights as a victim, I’m taking that to mean that the other party was finally found. I haven’t heard when the court date is, but I’m sighing with relief that I don’t have to be wary every time I come home and constantly on my guard.

Work seemed better towards the end of this past week. I hope I’m not jinxing myself by writing that…

Still having a really hard time breathing at moments. I see the doctor Wednesday.

I finished reading Breaking Dawn earlier today. At one point I was really not enjoying the way I thought it was heading. At the end, however, I was satisfied with the way it all turned out.

Had a “friend” decide that because we work together we can’t be friends even outside of work. When it happened I was very upset, mostly because we rarely (if ever) even discussed work outside the workplace. The upset has turned more into disappointment at the lack of perspective and the seeminly “thow away-ness” of what I (wrongly) perceived as a friendship.

Muggy Saturday

July 19th, 2008   Filed under: Everyday life, Life in Arizona, Pets, Weather, health

It’s pretty muggy out today, which is very unusual for here, except during monsoon season. Last weekend we got over 2 inches of rain. Usually a “good” monsoon brings 2.77 inches. While I’m certainly not complaining about rain, it is not pleasant to be outside.

After my latest doctor’s report I broke down and hired someone to mow my lawn this weekend. He’s here now and the dogs are going crazy. I reminded him (twice) that when I was feeling better I would be taking over again and so not to mow again without checking with me. He’s done with the front and side and it looks great.

It’s been an emotional week. I’m looking forward to regaining some equilibrium this weekend.

78F in the Middle of July

It probably won’t be this cool again until late October. The rain is a welcome sight as well, although the boys are driving me crazy. They can’t decide if they want to be inside or out. I put them out, which is fine until it thunders, which it’s been doing regularly over the past two hours. Luke either barks like crazy at the thunder or scratches at the door until I let him in. *sigh*

My How You’ve Grown

May 24th, 2008   Filed under: Everyday life, Pets, Pics, Weather

It’s hard to imagine Cotton was ever THAT little. Or that I ever found it “cute” when he was sitting on the table. It finally stopped raining a while ago and so while I was puttering around enjoying the lovely sunshine, I had to chase him off the table three times. *sigh* It’s hard to believe that it’s only 73F here today…a week ago it was 109F. I’m definitely not complaining.
